According to the manufacturer, the biodegradable "Bio-Flex S 7514" PLA compound is characterised by its high flowability and heat distortion resistance and is easy and efficient to process. With a melt flow rate (MFR) of 27 g/10 min, it is suited for use in multi-cavity moulds and for the production of moulded parts with longer flow paths. The compound's Vicat A softening temperature of 110 °C means its high heat resistance also allows for shorter cycle times.

The PLA compounds can typically be used in catering applications such as cutlery. Bio-Flex S 7514 has a 75% bio-based content and is available in natural and white, with other colours possible using masterbatches.

The new PLA compounds for injection moulding will be launched at this year's "Fakuma" trade fair ( running from 16-20 October 2018 in Friedrichshafen / Germany. Here, FKuR will be presenting bio-based TPE and PP grades for a range of thermoforming, injection moulding and extrusion applications.22.08.2018 [240474-0]
