The present invention is related to the industrial and commercial sector, in the manufacture of implements and accessories for forestry, horticultural and agricultural use where a polymer is required for the manufacture of plastic containers for controlling root growth and diseases caused by fungi and bacteria in plants and trees. Said polymer consists of a composition with a homogeneous mixture of a thermoplastic polymer selected from the polyethylene (PE) group of high or low density, polypropylene (PP), polybutylene (PB), polystyrene (PS), polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and nylon or compatible mixtures thereof. Also, it possesses copper salts selected from the copper oxychloride group, copper hydroxide or mixtures thereof, and alternatively a colorant, a UV additive, an antioxidant and a slip agent. Said admixture is processed in an extruder or pelletizing machine to obtain a homogeneous polymer used for manufacturing pla stic containers, as polyethylene bags, pots and plastic pots, germinating trays, tubes, and plastic boxes, among others. Said containers allow its manufacture by blown or thermoformed injection.
